Purpose
This policy outlines the objectives, guidelines, and structure of the Internship Program at I-Train Africa. We are committed to providing valuable, hands-on experience to help you build skills and advance your career. To ensure a successful internship experience, it’s important that all participants understand and adhere to the policies outlined below

Objectives
The primary objectives of the internship program are:

To provide practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the offered programs.

To enhance your professional skills and employability by leveraging innovative
ideas and fresh perspectives.

To provide networking opportunities with industry professionals and organizations.

Eligilibility And Program Enrollment

  • Only students who graduated from Skilled For Work Academy’s foundational
workplace skills program or technical skills programs are eligible for the
    internship.

  • Interns must have completed all required coursework, practicals and
assignments before starting the internship program.

  • Internship enrollment is contingent upon payment of necessary fees.

  • Be available to commit time for the internship program

Internship Placement And Expectation

  • Internship placement is based on your skills and career goals and is subject to partners’ availability, especially for project and product management programs.
  • Placement for roles such as Project Manager and Product Manager may be delayed due to lower demand from partner organizations. Interns in these roles may experience a delay in placement.
  • There is no fixed commencement date. This means interns are expected to join a waitlist, which will be posted upon partner request.
  • Interns are expected to be patient during the placement process and understand that some delays are beyond the Academy’s control.
  • In the event of significant delays, interns may participate in the GOP Program or request a refund (see section on Payment and Refund Policy). Do note that terms and conditions apply.
  • Completing the internship will result in recommendations/references from the partner organization.

Intern Responsibilities

  • Interns are required to adhere to the working hours, policies, and guidelines set
    by the partner organization.

  • Regular attendance and active participation during the internship period are
    mandatory.

  • Interns must maintain high levels of professionalism and communication with
    their supervisors and colleagues.

  • A performance evaluation may be conducted at the end of the internship, and feedback will be provided.

Internship Duration And Completion

The internship duration is 2months on Per-time basis (20hrs per week). In case of special request of full time internship (40 hrs per week) from organization, you are expected to signify availability.

Communication

  • All official communication between Skilled For Work Academy, interns, and partner organizations will be conducted via email or other communication channels such as WhatsApp, Google Classroom, or Telegram.

  • Interns are required to respond to communication within a reasonable time frame (24-48 hours) and stay updated with announcements.

Payment And Refund Policy

  • Internship fees of N215,000 ($215) must be fully paid before placement.
  • Interns wishing to swap programs may interchange with the GOP Program but must pay the additional fees.
  •  Suppose an intern withdraws from the program after paying the internship fee and before placement. In that case, they may request a refund, which will be processed according to the Academy’s refund policy.
  • No refunds will be issued once an internship placement has been confirmed and the intern has started the program. (Kindly note that once you have been placed with a partner organization, there will be no refund.)
  • Once the exam is written, you do not get a full refund should you decide not to proceed.
  • Refund claimable before the exam is N200,000 ($200) for payments through bank transfer and N180,000 ($180) through selar.
  • Should you fail the internship exam, you may rewrite the exam one more time, and you will pay an extra N10,000 ($10) to retake the exam.
  •  If you fail again, an N150,000 ($150)  refund will be issued, which signifies you are not skilled enough to be posted for work to our partners.
